Training the Skilled Workforce You Need
Civicorps graduates come to their internships having already mastered many of the skills that new interns are often expected to learn on the job. Upon completing two terms of academics, our students advance to job training and work on crews, learning how to use tools such as brush-cutters, chainsaws, leaf-blowers, and more. They also learn important soft skills like the importance of showing up to work on time, maintaining a professional appearance, working as a team, and accepting constructive criticism in order to keep progressing in their work. Overall, we provide 14 – 24 months of professional skill development.
While at Civicorps, our students have the opportunity to earn certifications like:
- Forklift Operation
- Class C Driver’s License
- Wood Chipper
- First Aid & CPR
Civicorps’ Pathways Coordinator works with local businesses to place our graduates in internships, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, or jobs. She then provides 20 hours of support to both the intern and the employer to ensure a successful placement.
