Foster youth have extremely high national dropout rates of 50% and less than 9% ever earn a Bachelor’s degree. Given these dire statistics, Civicorps wanted to analyze whether our program was meeting the unique needs of foster youth and helping them graduate with a high school diploma. Generously funded by the Walter S. Johnson Foundation, Civicorps embarked on a three-year study with the well-respected research firm Harder + Company Community Research.
We are pleased to share the findings of that three-year study, entitled “Civicorps: Foster Youth-Informed Education Project.” The results point to the uniqueness of Civicorps program. Foster youth at Civicorps graduate at the same rate as non-foster youth.
