Transforming lives through
education and job training
Civicorps helps the East Bay’s highest risk young adults, age 18-26, embark on family sustaining careers by offering the tools and opportunities to:
- Earn a high-school diploma,
- Gain high-demand job skills, and
- Continue onto college and/or career technical education.
Civicorps has a 74% graduation rate and 82% of graduates are enrolled in college and/or employed one year after graduation.
Get a behind the scenes look at a typical day for our truck drivers in this article from a reporter who drove around with two Civicorps Recycling Interns on their organics route.
This week, Civicorps was granted a landmark contract by the Oakland City Council in partnership with Waste Management and EBMUD to collect organics and create eight new truck driving pre-apprenticeships, which lead to union jobs.
On August 28th, Civicorps hosted a one-day Power to the Youth! leadership summit to promote student awareness of and engagement in key November ballot issues.
Each year, Civicorps takes 10 to 15 of our students to Yosemite National Park for service learning, camping, swimming, and hiking. For some youth, it’s a life-changing experience.
